Visa Information - Canada

VISA TYPES

If you wish to work temporarily in Canada, you will likely require an employment authorization. An employment authorization is issued by an immigration officer after a Human Resources Canada Center (HRCC) approves your job offer.

VISA PROCESS

The entire process of getting a visa and employment authorization takes approximately 3-4 months. This section details the requirements.

CONSULATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Visa Application Form - For Temporary Entry to Canada
  • Consulate Form - In Quadruplicate
  • Assessment Form
  • Company Offer Letter
  • Declaration Form
  • Resume - Hard Copy
  • No Objection Letter in case spouse is not accompanying the consultant on day one.
  • Original Passport
  • Passport Size Photographs - Four (for the consultant and for each family member accompanying the consultant)
  • Mark Sheets
  • Degree Certificates
  • Grade Sheets, Certificates of Professional Computer Courses completed, if any.
  • As many of the following (preferably the first three) for each of your employers :
  • Experience Letter / Recommendation Letters
  • Appointment Letter / Relieving Letter
  • Pay slips
  • Annual IT Statement - Form 16
  • Promotion / Increment Letter
  • Passport copy for consultant
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Copies of the Passport - for spouse and kids - if they are accompanying the consultant.

APPLICATION FORMS

To apply for your visa you have to fill in an Application Form which you can download from here, or get at the Consulate in your city.

FEES

Fees for applications processed at Canadian visa offices abroad may be paid in cash (U.S., Canadian or local currency), money order, traveler's cheque, or certified cheque. Canadian visa offices abroad may insist that non-residents applying at their visa office pay the processing fee in a convertible currency.

For Employment Authorization, the fees are Canadian $150, but you should check with your travel agent.
